Nicephore Niepce is best known for taking the first photograph in 1825. After experimenting with lithography and silver chloride, he then switched to bitumen and successfully took a photograph using a camera obscura. Niepce was born on March 7, 1765 and died on July 5, 1833. He was of French descent. He also helped to invent the world’s first internal combustion engine with his older brother Claude.
